About Me

I was recently a Communications and Knowledge Translation Specialist at London Health Sciences Centre for a Kidney research program and the ICES Kidney, Dialysis, & Transplantation Program, where I translated research findings into content that supports implementation into clinical care and health policy. I was the sole communications officer on this team for four years. I also worked with the Lawson Health Research Institute's Pragmatic Trials Team, which is coordinated under the Accelerating Randomized Trials Platform at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

In this role, I designed and implemented communications strategies and executed message development to help researchers disseminate their study findings. I managed many different long-term and ongoing projects, workflows and timelines, creating internal comms, building and maintaining websites, creating newsletters, copy editing, organizing and holding conferences, and maintaining social media. This includes developing and managing both internal and external communications, including websites, conference and workshop planning and implementation, regular bulletins and newsletters, internal comms, social media, and knowledge translation support for specific projects aimed at implementing the findings of research. I built relationships with partner institutions, and focused my work on supporting researchers across Canada as they share their findings with the goal of implementing those findings to better health care and health policy.

Before 2019, I practiced law in the United States for 13 years, where I worked to improve the lives of hard-working people and patients. In 2019, my family moved to Ontario and the following October, I earned my Masters of Media in Journalism and Communications from Western University, expanding my skill set to include communications, public relations, writing, digital communications and technology.

Throughout my career, I have I handled projects and led teams that executed organization-wide changes, including creating and implementing policies and processes, coordinating complex negotiations, and spearheading inter-governmental collaborations. Often these projects were confidential for the duration and could have had serious political and public relations implications if not handled properly. I held and represented my clients at events and workshops and worked closely with partner organizations, sister agencies, the legislature, industry, and other stakeholders to meet the needs of my clients.

I am open to contract, temporary, part-time, and full-time work in Ontario. Below is my Content Creation portfolio, which pertains to my role in communications and knowledge translation. If you would like additional information regarding my policy, regulatory and legal experience and see examples of that work, please feel free to contact me.
