Website Creation and Related Work
Using various platforms including WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Brilliant Directories, I create content, build and organize websites, and clean up copy and images. I have even improved search engine optimization through content and tags. Working on websites has become one of my favourite jobs in communications.
I built the website you are currently reading. Below are a number of other sites I've either built from scratch, reworked for SEO and user experience improvement or maintained.
LKD Safety Study

The Living Kidney Donor (LKD) Safety Study is a multicenter prospective cohort study that looked at the long-term effects of becoming a kidney donor. A total of 17 transplant centres across Canada and Australia recruited study participants. At these centres, the study team recruited living kidney donors, controls (study buddies) and recipients into the study. I built and maintain the website on Wordpress.
The Dial-Mag Trial
The Dialysate Magnesium (Dial-Mag) Trial is a multi-centre pragmatic cluster randomized trial being conducted in 150+ dialysis units located across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario. I built and maintain their website on WordPress.

Gardener's Grove 2023 Conference

In addition to planning the event, marketing it, creating the pre/during/and post conference materials, technical assistance during the Conference, and handling anything else to prepare for and implement this fully virtual conference, I created and maintain the Gardner's Grove 2023 Website.
The website initially was used to collect digital Requests for Proposals, and later was restructured to provide information, update speakers, and allow attendees to register. After the Conference (end of March 2023), the website will be restructured again to house the videos and materials discussed in the conference.
Website creation including:
-
Create and structure the site for an online publication
-
Design the layout of all webpages
-
Teach journalism students how to post articles and modify images to ensure quick loading on both mobile and desktop
-
Create logo and branding for the site and social media pages
-
Maintain site throughout the internship
-
For my Capstone project, I was the primary creator of the website for Western Journalism Studio.
Western Journalism Studio is a digital journalism outlet produced through Western University’s Master of Media in Journalism & Communication Program. I created the site to provide an outlet for journalism grad students to post during the COVID-19 pandemic for their Western University-sponsored internship program.
Using WordPress, I created the website, designed the layout and pages, and made it user-friendly for both the students and their readers.
I installed Google Analytics and Yoast SEO and structured the website with SEO and user experience in mind. I also met with the journalism students and walked them through posting articles and sizing their images, explaining how to use Yoast to improve the SEO of each article.
Finally, I maintained the website throughout the tenure of the journalism internship, adding to and modifying the structure for featured stories and helping with the presentation of certain images.

Canadian Mental Health Association Thrive Institute

While working at Western Media Studios, I was assigned to help CMHA's Thrive Institute create their website, which is scheduled to go live in fall 2020.
The website, created with Squarespace, will provide educational resources for people seeking information regarding mental health. The site required a course reservation function and a way to track registration.
I set up the homepage and created the structure for the tabs and menus. I also designed the logo and graphics for the entire website. My team worked to create the site, draft the copy, and develop the registration and contact forms. We then completed the background work to make sure it had solid SEO.

Before Changes
I was the primary member of my team responsible for restructuring and reworking the Parent Coach Club's website. I completed the audit, completed the SEO-related research, reworked the layout of all the webpages, edited the copy to include keywords and phrases, and input all the changes, including to the metadata and submitting the sitemap to Google.
As a team, we worked on rebranding the website and ensuring consistency with the related social media accounts. Our team came up with a social media plan including campaigns related to blog articles and a blog schedule plan that I created. We created social media campaigns and blog plan and schedule to ensure that published articles would contribute to the traffic movement onto the website.
Website reconstructing, including:
-
Audit the website, including metadata, to determine what changes needed to be made for SEO
-
Research keywords and phrases to determine the best SEO terms that applied to the services provided by Parent Coach Club
-
Draft the copy for the website based on the existing copy on some support pages using keywords and terms
-
Rework the logo and branding for the website and social media pages
-
Input the copy and new keywords and terms
-
Restructure some of the menus and search bars
-
Add the search links to the 153 subcategories at the bottom of the website
-
Update the widgets and titles to reflect the keywords and phrases
-
Update metadata, including meta titles and descriptions for each page, and the tags for each of the search subcategories
-
Generate and sent the sitemap to Google
